Aviation & Law Dubai 2017 was an international conference bringing together aviation industry leaders, legal professionals, and government bodies under the patronage of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. Conceived as a high-profile event within the UAE's aviation calendar, the conference required a brand identity that could stand up alongside the prestige of its institutional patronage — authoritative, premium, and unmistakably Dubai.
As Art Director and Lead Designer at District International, I was the sole creative lead on this project — responsible for conceiving and executing the entire visual identity from scratch. The scope covered logo design, full brand system, all print and digital collaterals, 3D event environment design, delegate experience materials, and promotional video production. I also supervised all production and third-party vendor output to ensure delivery to the highest standard.
The logo concept came first — exploring how aviation and law could be fused into a single, ownable mark. The final AL monogram draws from the visual language of aviation, with the letterforms evoking the swept geometry of a wing in motion. A bold red, black and white palette was established to signal authority and precision, with Arabic typography integrated to reflect the event's UAE context and DCAA patronage.
The identity was extended across every touchpoint of the conference experience — from registration desk branding and stage 3D visualisations, to delegate kits, branded medals, stationery, and promotional print. Each piece was designed to feel cohesive and premium, reinforcing the conference's positioning as a first-class international event. The 3D stage design created a commanding visual centrepiece for the main conference hall, translating the brand mark into an immersive physical environment.
Beyond print and environment, I directed and produced promotional video content for the conference — bringing the Aviation & Law brand to life in motion to support pre-event marketing across digital channels. The visual language developed for print translated seamlessly into the motion work, ensuring a unified brand presence across every medium.
Although the conference did not ultimately proceed, the project stands as one of the most comprehensive creative engagements of my career to that point — delivering a fully resolved brand system, event environment, collateral suite, and motion content across a compressed timeline, entirely under my creative direction. The work was covered in the regional aviation press and demonstrated the full range of what a single creative director can produce end-to-end.
